Position Summary
Mogu is looking for a Composite Developer to join our R&D and Product Development Team, dedicated to the development of innovative, sustainable, commercial and industrial products for the segment of interior design.
Main tasks
Reporting to the Management Team, the chosen candidate will be in charge for performing a range of activities, such as:
- Design, development & testing of new sustainable materials for interior design, specifically of fibre-based materials, pressed or not pressed, deriving from mycelium technology and from Mogu know-how, to be implemented in standard and existing industrial technologies.
- Prototyping and experimentation campaigns aiming to develop new materials and their characterisation;
- Analysis and evaluation of costs & advantages of said materials, comparing them with existing & commercially available ones;
- Evaluation & design of said materials based on the industrial manufacturing process entailed, as well as of economic, innovation, and sustainability drivers;
- Support the definition of the industrial manufacturing process and the corresponding plant;
- Support the characterisation and certification of Mogu products and materials;
- Research and selection of potential raw material suppliers
- Contribute to the good working environment.
Skills and Qualifications
- Solid knowledge of materials science, specifically of composite materials, preferably of fibreboard materials (such as MDF, OSB)
- Understanding & knowledge of Industrial Chemistry, specifically of binding mechanics of composite materials, and binders / additives to increase their performance;
- Knowledge of industrial production processes of fibreboard / composite materials
- Previous experience in industry, related to product and materials development or manufacturing;
- MSc, preferably in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Industrial Chemistry or related
- 5 years working experience
- Soft team work skills; able to work in highly multidisciplinary environments; positive & reflective attitude; ability to work under pressure with a calm, resilient and problem-solving attitude.
- Experience with biofabrication is a plus but not mandatory
- Practical & hands-on attitude
- Total comfort and fluency in both spoken and written English (Italian optional)
- Openness and Sense of humor
