Founded in Italy in 2017 by the skills of a group of qualified professionals with decades of expertise in research, analysis, consulting and software development for agronomic management. Agricolus has a strong focus on technological innovation and extensive experience in the field of precision agriculture and makes use of a multidisciplinary team composed of: Agronomists, SW developers, GIS technicians, EO Analyst / Data Scientist, Account Manager and business developer. Thanks to its internal R&D area, Agricolus actively participates in many European and international innovation projects, financed by various funding programs (HE, EitFood, ESA, PSR, Life).
Main responsibilities
The new resource will be included in the Agricolus R&D team which is a multidisciplinary team that carries out industrial research in the field of digital agriculture. The team collaborates with several important EU institutions, such as the European Space Agency, and several Italian and international universities and research centers. The senior Agricultural Data Scientist will collaborate on the creation of forecasting tools for farmers, with a specific focus on forecasting models. The tools will provide spatial and non-spatial predictions of different agronomic variables, such as water needs, nutrient needs, pests, diseases and other variables, as well as diagnostic tools for the identification of different problems in cultivated fields.
Knowledge and skills required
The Senior Agricultural Data Scientist will have basic knowledge in agronomy and / or biological sciences, with expertise and experience in biostatistics and forecasting models. You will be familiar with at least one statistical language (R, Python or others). In addition, knowledge of deep learning and machine learning, experience on the use of spatial data as well as experiences of collaboration in European projects will also be appreciated.
